Objectives
To provide the worldwide marine industry with a capable, confident and safe engineer officer with skills and knowledge to be In-charge of an Engine Room watch by providing, (Refer to the STCW Code, as amended: Chapter VIII, Section A – VIII/2 Part 4.2 & Section B – VIII/2 Part 4.2. ) principles and guidances when keeping an engineering watch
- Knowledge in understanding the correct procedure for watchkeeping
- Knowledge and experience in identifying operational problems and troubleshooting
- Improving their decision-making capabilities concerning security & effective plant operations
- Sample actions to be adapted in emergencies to decide on engine operations
Course certificate
Upon successful completion of the engine room simulator course, and the evaluation of all students with a practical evaluation. Candidates who successfully complete and score above the passing mark, will be awarded a certificate.
- Examination Method and Pass / Fail Criteria
- Evaluate through the Final examination (Troubleshoot Exercises)
Pass mark: – 70%
A certificate will be issued to the students who successfully achieve the passing criteria certifying that the holder has successfully completed the approved simulator training at an operational level.
A knowledge database for engineering candidates at the operational level to obtain practical hands-on skills in engine room operations and troubleshooting.
This course aims to meet the mandatory minimum requirements for the knowledge, understanding and proficiency specified in STCW Regulation 1978 as amended, Section A-III/1 & A-III/3, Table A-III/1 for the following functions.
- Function 1 – Marine engineering at the operational level
- Function 2 – Electrical, electronic and control engineering at the operational level
- Function 3 – Controlling the operation of the ship and care for persons on board at the operational level
